UK candidate information stored in US-based ERP database
Good afternoon,
I have recently received a question regarding UK applicants and how they interact with a US-based ERP installation. I was told that UK privacy laws ensure that an applicant must consent to having their personal information stored outside of the UK/EU. This is fine for online applicants as they will be shown consent verbiage with a Yes/No box before continuing the process. However there are other channels for entering candidates into the system (e.g. an email inbox that automatically loads CVs) and I would be interested to get feedback from HR professionals with UK exposure as to how this requirement has been handled, or indeed whether it is actually a legal requirement
Regards,
John

John, I may be off here and I would love for someone with experience other than my own to chime in and tell me I am wrong. That being said, I have been involved with many global ERP implementations that have included Talent Management / Recruiting functionality and Safe Harbor http://bit.ly/2os9WY is always a concern. There are guidelines that must be followed but they are not unreasonable. Experience in this area is the key.
Drop me a line if you would like some advice. I am more than happy to point you in the right direction.
